LITTLE FLUFFY CLOUDS, so named for the rave anthem by British band, Orb, was founded in 1996 by English director/producer, Betsy De Fries and Dutch animation director, Jerry van de Beek. Their initial goal was to find just enough interesting and technically challenging projects to sponsor their own equally creative short films and animations. Now a multi award-winning animation studio, LFC specializes in high-end motion graphics and digital animation of all flavours. This talented twosome brings an imaginative edge to concept design, character development, animation, VFX, photo real modeling, title sequences and on-line media. Diversity of style is their byword. From the get go LFC received much recognition. Clios, LIAAs, Anicoms and Gold Creativity awards adorn the studio. The studio’s short films appear regularly in festivals worldwide and the studio's work and philosophy are featured in two Rockport publications: Computer Animation - A Whole New World and The Best of 3-D Graphics. LFC founders contributed to New Rider’s: Inside Softimage. Additional projects are highlighted in IDN-Flips Book Seven Animation and the studio short,Au Petite Mort,, is explored at length in Premiere publication’s: Inspired 3D Short Film Production. International publisher, Taschen, spotlights the studio extensively in their coffee table art book, Animation Now!. Scheduled for release in 2007 is, Total Animation, featuring the Sundance short,Today, commissioned by JWT2 NYC for Sundance Channel’s series, Billy Collins Action Poetry. LFC’s latest work, for Lexus, is The Car and The Road: a romance in automation. This 4 minute wild ride follows the travails of a sensible, straight road as he seeks to reinvent himself for the car he loves. Watch on TV, cinema or the web, as the Road reveals his inner passionate self and woos the fun loving car that can do things other cars only dream about. Sigh… This love story for the modern era joins LFC’s other short films, Today, Au Petite Mort, Yo Yo, Jack and Neptune, on the animation festival circuit. All are as diverse in style as they are in temperament taking the viewer on a journey to a moment in a whole other world. The studio’s latest commercial offerings are a comedic take on American Idol auditions for the Colorado Lottery and a series of spots for the IBM campaign,What Makes You Special?, all created in the guise of free flowing Rorschach inkblot tests. Little Fluffy Clouds operates out of two locations. The San Francisco studio is located within the Project Artaud arts complex and a Marin satellite is adjacent to a California National Park. Trailside walks and mountain biking are encouraged as you wait for your render. |
