Little Fluffy Clouds creates a traditional black and white woodcut spot in CG.

Escaping the dragon of financial ruin is the theme of, Up…Down…Up, a multi award-winning, animation festival favorite that spins a David and Goliath tale for Mainstay Mutual Funds. Utilizing a striking black and white woodcut style it combines traditional cel animation with new and unique techniques in 3D to create an overall traditional woodcut effect.

This fast paced and extremely elegant visual treat presented a unique technical challenge for LFC creative and animation director, Jerry van de Beek, who not only created, modeled, textured and animated the piece but also wrote special digital to analogue code, DIANA, to assist in the field chart registration for the cel to digital ink and paint transitions essential to this production.
