Little Fluffy Clouds creates TODAY for Sundance Channel – Billy Collins Action Poet Series
Commissioned by the Sundance Channel in association with JWT2 NYC for the network’s Billy Collins Action Poet series. TODAY, is an animated recreation of the US Poet Laureate’s poem from the collection, Nine Horses (2002).
The piece, as read by Collins, describes a spring day so perfect – depicted in the film via dancing butterflies, floating dandelion wishes and capricious reveries set in a flowery field outside a half-timbered cottage – that its beauty inspires an exuberance that threatens to cross over into violence.
Originally aired as interstitials the entire series is slated for released by Sundance.
TODAY, was directed by Little Fluffy Clouds’ creative team, Jerry van de Beek and Betsy de Fries. Animated in Adobe Illustrator, After Effects, Flash and Autodesk Maya along with hand drawn illustrations.
